The SS United States Foundation
As a lifetime New Yorker and graduate of Brooklyn College, Dan Trachtenberg has over a decade of experience concentrating on museum object conservation, exhibit design and installation, and collections management. He has worked, as a Director, Curator / Director, Collection Manager, and Consulting Curator, for several museums in the New York area, e.g., The South Street Seaport Museum, The Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum, The Sea Cliff Village Museum, and The American Merchant Marine Museum.
While at The American Merchant Marine Museum, Dan archived the entire public relations files of The United States Lines, the one-time owners and operator of the SS United States. He has lectured and written extensively on maritime history both on the local and national levels. An avid reader of all things maritime, Dan was the President of the SS United States Foundation from 1999 - 2001 and from 2005 through the present. In September of 2009, Dan was named Chairman of the Foundation.

Richard Marker, Co-Principal

Over his 40+ year professional career, Richard Marker has spoken or consulted in 38 countries on 5 continents and in over 40 States in the United States. He has done this in two capacities: as one of the world’s experts in philanthropy, and as an elected leader in the international interreligious realm.
Currently, Richard is a Co-Principal of Marker Goldsmith Philanthropy Advisors, which works with philanthropists, foundations, and high net worth families on the strategies of their giving. He also is Senior Fellow at New York University's Center for Philanthropy, and chairs its Academy for Grantmaking and Funder Education, the nation’s largest and most comprehensive program teaching those who give money away. His book, Saying ‘Yes’ Wisely: Insights for the Thoughtful Philanthropist [Blooming Twig Books], is available for sale in the Fall of 2009.
On a volunteer level, Richard Marker serves as a co-chair of the Board of World Religious Leaders, an international think tank of Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Moslem, Christian, and Jewish leaders, as chair of the International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultations, world Jewry’s official representative body for world religious relations, and on the Steering Committee of the UN Decade for Interreligious and Intercultural Understanding.
He lives on New York’s Upper East Side with his wife and business partner, Mirele Goldsmith, Ph.D., and is the father of Adam, a public interest attorney in Washington, DC.
