Roy Berger
President and CEO, MedjetAssist

A born and bred New Yorker, Roy Berger – President and CEO of MedjetAssist, a Birmingham, Alabama-based emergency medical evacuation membership program - has spent over 30 years in executive management and operations positions.

A communications graduate of the University of Miami, Mr. Berger started his career in the pari-mutuel racing industry. He directed the day-to-day business for dozens of tracks, served as president of a national racetrack operators association, and became a spokesperson for the industry at national conferences, in the press, and has testified before Congressional subcommittees.

In 1998, he became president of MedjetAssist. The company has since witnessed a massive growth averaging 23% growth a year since 1998. MedjetAssist is not just another job for Mr. Berger, but a true labor of love.

"People subscribe to our product with the hopes of never needing us, but when they do, we have an obligation to perform. My satisfaction is gained from getting our members to a place where they can recover," Berger states.

Mr. Berger and his wife live in Birmingham, where they enjoy great golfing at least eleven months of the year.

About Medjet

MedjetAssist is the premier emergency medical evacuation membership program for travelers. If a member is hospitalized more than 150 miles from home—virtually anywhere in the world—MedjetAssist reviews his or her condition both with the attending medical staff and the member’s own physicians, and will arrange for a medically equipped and staffed aircraft to fly them free of charge to the hospital of their choice. MedjetAssist has its corporate headquarters in Birmingham, AL, and is the recognized provider of air-medical evacuation and repatriation services for AARP.

MedjetAssist staff is on hand, in consultation with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, to communicate with attending physicians caring for members anywhere in the world (through translators, if necessary).

MedjetAssist works with more than 80 airline affiliates and has access to more than 100 aircraft worldwide to provide emergency evacuation services for its members.

If physically able to fly commercial, members always fly first class, accompanied by medical personnel; if commercial air travel is not medically tenable, members are evacuated by fully medically equipped private jet.

Members hospitalized more than 150 miles from home choose the medical facility to which they wish to be airlifted.

Annual membership fees start at $250 per individual, and $385 per family (up to 7 members, including spouse, domestic partner and/or dependent children).
